Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1630–1680) was the founder of the Maratha Empire in India. A visionary leader and skilled warrior, he challenged the Mughal and Adilshahi rule, establishing a strong and independent kingdom. Known for his guerrilla warfare tactics, naval strength, and administrative reforms, he promoted religious tolerance and good governance. He was crowned king in 1674 at Raigad Fort.
